August 2009

A guy asked me the other day “ How hard is it to learn to play guitar?” The answer is simply ‘How bad do you want to learn?’. Playing music is just like anything else in life. You get out of it what you put into it. There are those who think they want to play, but are not willing to put forth the work required in order to succeed. Therefore , they struggle with their instrument, and never achieve the level of musicianship they want. There are other people who want to play so badly that they can’t wait to pick up their guitar and practice. The hours fly by as they strum new chords and run scales until their fingers ache. For these people, learning is its own reward. Practice is more than simply a means to an end. It is a joy. So, can any clown learn to play guitar? Yes they can, if they want to bad enough. And that’s no joke.
