September 2009

Let’s talk about bass players. We’ve all heard the jokes ( Why can’t bass players get through the door? Either they can’t find the key, or don’t know when to come in), but bass players play a huge role in a band. Without them, music just isn’t the same. I don’t know why bass players don’t get as much respect as their guitar playing counterparts.  Bass players have been the driving creative force in some of the biggest bands. For example, Sting (The Police), Sir Paul McCartney (The Beatles), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Roger Waters (Pink Floyd), and Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) wrote nearly all of the songs for their bands. The fact is, the world needs more bass players, and we want to do our part to help. So bring in a copy of this newsletter and you’ll receive 15% off our everyday low price on the bass of your choice. I’ll even kick in a free bass lesson to get you going. And remember, without bass players, we’re all in serious treble.

Rock Camp A Huge Success

This month I’d like to congratulate all of this year’s participants in our annual “Rock & Roll Summer Camp”. The camp was a huge success, as we were able to form three bands: The Strings, The Idles, and Unknown. Each of these bands learned songs from artists such as The Doors, Greenday, Pink Floyd, and Van Halen, then played a ‘gig’ at Townley’s Grill in Smyrna. The show exceeded my greatest expectations, as family and friends turned out in force to support the bands. And the fun doesn’t stop there. The Town of Smyrna heard about the event, and asked if the Rock Camp Bands would perform at their annual ‘Music in the Park’ event. Perhaps the best result of this year’s camp is the fact that a number of the campers have decided to continue their bands on their own. Thanks to all who participated and helped out during this year’s camp, and we all look forward to next year’s camp.

Student Referrals

Let’s face it. Times are tough, and we all can use a break. Well, we’ve come up with a way to help you with your monthly tuition. Here’s the deal: Ask your teacher for some ‘Student Referral Cards’. It’s simply a business card with your name and your teacher’s name on it. Then pass out the cards to your friends and classmates and encourage them to sign up for lessons. For every student that brings in one of your cards and signs up for lessons, you will get one lesson free. But wait, there’s more! You will also receive a five dollar gift certificate to spend on anything you want in our store. So if you get four of your friends to sign up for lessons, you get a whole month of free lessons and a $20 gift certificate. That’s $88 for simply handing out a few cards. Good luck!
