I have searched mulitple sites and forums for the last couple of days and have yet to find an answer to this seamingly simple task I have been having issues with my home network since upgrading my router Cisco E and my operating system from Home Premium to Ultimate with anytime upgrade.
Prior to this I had no difficulty in accessing my homegroup or my home network storage drive. I know it is not the router because I have similar but different issues with another computer, here is the problem and why I want to just start all over fresh. Laptop 1 x can access my home network in all its glory ONLY wirelessly Laptop 1 is also unable to join my homegroup even after deleting the old one and creating a new one.
Laptop 2 x can access my home network in most of its glory ONLY wired Laptop 2 is also not able to connect to Laptop 1 even reset windows 7 network sharing settings free download Laptop 1 can sometimes access files from Laptop 2's shared folders.
I have run all the trouble shooters that the system throws at me to no avail, they all say that I have an unknown network error that it cant fix. In reply to taminrob's post on January 24, I had this same problem for two weeks. My issue turned out to be my Router. Once I reset it then I was able to setup my Homegroup in about 5 minutes.
In reply to sg1fan's post on July 17, I have some doubt if this will resolve the problem, but it might be worth a try. This is a problem i have had, it was a dell laptop and a dlink router, try plugging the laptop into the router via ethernet and then reset windows 7 network sharing settings free download the homegroup.
This worked for me, once joined by ethernet it should work on wireless also. Good luck. This site in other languages x.
